Is it worth buying a K&N air filter to replace my OEM one?

Is it really worth £40 when an OEM paper one costs less than £10?

Are there any performance gains or other reasons I would want one other than just to avoid having to buy OEM filters again every year?

Its just a filter

it's cheaper to just use OEM filters in the long run as any fuel savings or performance gains from the K&N is negated by the price of them and then even though they are a lifetime filter you still have to buy a cleaning kit for them that retreats
